In this session, you will learn ideas for accessing authentic scientific and historic data and converting it into images and animations. We’ll discuss projects my students are producing, including a collaboration with the NASA Lunar Science Institute to create animations of the formation and features of the Moon, using atmospheric opacity data to animate a dust storm on Mars, filming an astronomy lesson plan for the MIT BLOSSOMS project, creating videos on the history of mining in Utah and the chemical elements, and other projects that demonstrate the art of science, the science of art, and the history of both.
