Photos and Videos for Deeper Learning

Recent research has found that students learn more when they generate their own representations and create their own explanations to share with others. In this session, we will discuss the ways in which image and video capture can be used to augment learning, with special emphasis on math and science instruction. We will demo free or low-cost software and apps that can support the capture and annotation of images, as well as software/apps that facilitate the development of shared explanation through videos and slideshows. Finally, we'll discuss helpful development techniques that will facilitate deeper learning as students are engaged in development.
