Making the Common Core Uncommonly Exciting

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The purpose of this session is to inspire participants to use the new Common Core standards as inspiration for exciting and high-level technology projects. While the standards are able to provide a clear understanding of what students need to learn, they do not tell you HOW the students should learn these standards. While each student is different, the desire to be engaged and to use creative outlets are common amongst them all. Pixie3 and Frames are a couple of the creative tools that will be used to engage learners and collaborate our way through the new standards. Participants do not need to have this software to benefit from this session, other suggestions will be discussed.

Goals for this session experience:
1. Explore examples of student projects that blend Common Core Standards, critical thinking skills, and 21st century communication.
2. Learn how technology can engage learners in work that reaches the Common Core Standards
3. Leave with specific ideas and strategies to use when they return to their classrooms.
