History in the Raw - Learning with Primary Source Materials

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

To many students, history is viewed as a series of facts, dates, and events usually packaged as a textbook. The use of primary sources can change this view. They fascinate students because they are real and they are personal; history is humanized through them. Using original sources (documents, video, audio, photographs, maps) students’ touch the lives of the people and events about which history is written. In this session time will be spent learning about primary source materials and locating resources for any subject area using the Library of Congress digital collections.
